Moss verbena is a type of ground cover that is native to South America. It is well adapted to sunny, hot, and dry environments. This tough plant can be grown on slopes and banks, in rock gardens, and in containers and hanging baskets.

It produces small, colorful flowers that are grouped together in large clusters at the end of thin stems. While the most common color of these blooms is purple, they can also be found in attractive shades of pink and white. Butterflies are drawn to the abundant flowers. When grown in full sun, moss verbena's fern-like foliage stays close to the ground and only grows to a height of one foot when grown in the shade.
