The little-leaf leadtree, also known as the goldenball leadtree, is a slender deciduous shrub or small tree with many showy golden-yellow flowers that bloom throughout spring and summer. This small, multi-trunked tree or large shrub can grow up to 15 feet tall and has light-green foliage on brittle stems. The bark is flaky and cinnamon-colored, and the sweet-smelling flowers occur in 1-inch yellow-orange globes. These flowers will appear after every rain from summer through fall.

This beautiful tree is sometimes cultivated in warm regions for its showy yellow flowers and conspicuous pods. Additionally, it is a good browse plant for cattle.

The goldenball lead-tree is a stunning small tree that grows well in rocky soil. The yellow puffball flowers have a sweet aroma; its wood is relatively weak and has been known to snap in strong winds. Its open structure allows sun-loving species to bloom underneath.
