This plant is a low-growing evergreen shrub with dense foliage. It usually reaches a height of 24 inches and spreads to a width of 4-6 feet. Its narrow needle-like leaves are deep green above and whitish below. The plant produces attractive blue flowers in late winter and intermittently throughout the year. These flowers are highly valued for their food seasoning and contain essential oils used in perfumes, lotions, and soaps. They also attract birds and bees.

Prostrate rosemary can be planted on slopes and banks of all sizes, in containers, and drought-tolerant gardens. It is also great for garden borders. The plant thrives in well-drained soils and full sun and can tolerate temperatures as low as 15°F. This plant is often sheared and trimmed to maintain the appropriate size and create flowing shapes.
