Hydrangea 'Vanilla Strawberry'
When you plant the First Editions® Vanilla StrawberryTM Hydrangea (Hydrangea paniculata 'Renhy'), your landscape will transform. You'll love its playful, strawberry-pink flowers and graceful nature. One won't be enough! There is nothing short of spectacular about these First Editions® plants. Spring begins with green leaves covering the stems, which later turn red. Blooms are at their peak in the late summer and early fall.
You can watch your flowers change color throughout the season. In midsummer, the panicles of tiny, densely clustered flowers begin creamy white before turning pink as they mature. With cooler nights and warm days in sunnier locations, the white blooms turn pink as they age. The colors of the flowers change during the summer, moving from white with pink centers to deeper strawberry red.
You can cut some of the stunning Strawberry Vanilla Hydrangea blooms to enjoy indoors or leave them on your plant for winter. The blooms cling to the stems until early fall (when they dry to a white, silvery tan) and persist through the winter months.
The American Nursery and Landscape Association named Vanilla Strawberry Hydrangea its top plant. The Vanilla Strawberry Hydrangea is related to the classic PeeGee Hydrangea but has improved features that make it a must-have for any garden.
Adding to the beauty of your yard, you'll also attract hummingbirds and butterflies. Strong, sturdy upright stems keep their impressive blooms from drooping. Summertime blooms are complemented by the foliage's rich, green hue.
