Native to the border region of Texas and Mexico, only cataloged this rare tree in 1982. The small, ornamental tree bears white, pea-like flowers in clusters of 10 or more, all of which are deliciously scented. Both the flowers and wood become strongly scented with vanilla cinnamon. This tree proliferates to 10' - 20' tall and wide with a multitrunked form. Light green compound leaves turn gold in the Fall and are deciduous. Adaptable to temperatures as low as 15°F. Moderate soil conditions.
