Agastache, commonly called giant hyssop, is a genus of herbaceous perennials native to North America that contains about 30 species. Compared with species plants, hybrids of Agastache usually have more showy flowers and are more hardy in the winter. Hybrid flowers come in a range of colors, including reds, oranges, pinks, yellows, and whites.
‘Heather Queen’ will eventually form a clump that does not spread or take over. It is a herbaceous, moderately long-lived perennial plant with shrub-like appearance that produces large, dark-pink flower spikes and features gray-green foliage with small leaves that are dispersed throughout the plant. It grows rapidly and blooms the first year. Blooms first appear early summer and continue through mid to late fall. This plant has aromatic foliage with flower spikes that fill the air with a mint fragrance that both hummingbirds and butterflies are attracted to. Agastache ‘Heather Queen’ tolerates hot, dry conditions that many other flowers cannot handle.
